Casa Miani- San Jose Home for Boys

Casa Miani- San Jose??

On June 13 1999, following the example of Christ and assuming the same life style which characterized St. Jerome Emiliani and his first disciples, the Somascan Fathers, a Congregation of Religious Priests and Brothers here in the Philippines opened a small orphanage in a residential house at San Jose Village Alabang, Muntinlupa City.. Eight boys were welcomed as its first clients. Fr. Giovanni Borali and Bro. Kiko Lamo took care of the boys in need.

The House of St. Jerome "Home for Boys"
The foundation of Casa Miani – San Jose was made possible through the efforts and clear vision of the Somascan Fathers whose goal was to reach and to extend its assistance to the needy children of NCR and Southern Tagalog provinces. On March 3, 2003, Casa Miani San – Jose received its license to operate from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Then three years later on June 5, 2006 having satisfied the standards in the implementation of Residential Care Services for the Children and Youth, Casa Miani - San Jose was awarded with the certificate of accreditation from the same government agency.

Now the Christian supports of the many sponsors and benefactors with the help of committed volunteers are enabling the Somascan Fathers to take care of the many Casa Miani children for as long as it is needed. Sponsors and benefactors are part of the association named as “Friends of Casa Miani “. It is open to all who are willing to cooperate in this enormous but so needed Christian task to share in the spirit of St. Jerome Emiliani, Father of the Orphans and Universal Patron of the Needy Youth.

Since its foundation Casa Miani received number of requests for sheltering new needy kids. Every year its number increased. That is why there was the need to expand this institution so as to increase the population of children. A project to build a new house adjacent to the present one was considered. On February 14, 2004 an extension-building was inaugurated with the blessing officiated by the Bishop of the Diocese of Paranaque, Most Rev. Jesse E. Mercado

The maximum of boys that can only be accommodated is 25 children.Casa Miani- San Jose, a non-profit organization founded for residential home care, is mainly oriented to provide assistance to male minors (7-18 years old), morally and physically deprived of family support (orphans, abandoned, physically abused, school drop outs and children in situation of high social risk). Through the support of sponsors, benefactors and with the help of committed volunteers it enables the Somascan Fathers to take care of the needy children...
